unable to start saned using xinetd

Hello all,

I have to say saned has sucessfully kicked my behind.

I am trying to setup an epson usb scanner that my wife and i can share on our small home network. My problem is that I cannot for the life of me get saned to start. I have setup our system using the penguin-breeder tutorial linked from the sane website. Everything is fine till I try to telnet to localhost:6566 where I get a connection refused.

#####When I check the system log I find this.#####

Jul 11 08:54:55 homestead xinetd: xinetd shutdown succeeded
Jul 11 08:54:56 homestead xinetd: xinetd startup succeeded
Jul 11 08:54:56 homestead xinetd[11146]: Server /user/sbin/saned is not executable [file=/etc/xinetd.d/saned] [line=14]
Jul 11 08:54:56 homestead xinetd[11146]: Error parsing attribute server - DISABLING SERVICE [file=/etc/xinetd.d/saned] [line=14]
Jul 11 08:54:57 homestead xinetd[11146]: xinetd Version 2.3.12 started with libwrap loadavg options compiled in.
Jul 11 08:54:57 homestead xinetd[11146]: Started working: 1 available service

######Here is my /etc/xinetd.d/saned:######

# default: off
# description: The sane server accepts requests
# for network access to a local scanner via the
# network.

service sane
{
disable = no
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
user = saned
group = saned
wait = no
server = /user/sbin/saned
}

#####Output from ls -l /usr/sbin/saned:#####

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 46988 Jul 24 2003 /usr/sbin/saned

##### and ls -l /dev/usb/scanner0 #####

crw-rw---- 1 root saned 180, 48 Sep 15 2003 /dev/usb/scanner0

###### Appropriate line from /etc/services: #####

sane 6566/tcp saned # SANE network scanner daemon

Also the local firewall is disabled and distro is Fedora Core 1.
If more info is needed please ask.

I can probably figure the rest out if someone can explain to me why xinetd does not see saned as an executable. Any help would be appriciated tho.

Thanx in advance.
