strange problem when ping to yahoo.com

There are two PCs with real IPs (both in same subnet as well). When i try to ping to yahoo.com from one pc i get reply but when i ping from the pc i don't get any reply.

When doing a traceroute both pcs resolve ip address to 66.94.234.13 but one pcs trace stops at 9th hop (not belongs to our ISP) and the other pc completes the trace (both trace go through same path and i did this several times within about 5 hours period).

This is the first time i saw an issue like this.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Does a router exist between the two machines?

Well there is no router between them. However restarting a gateway router resolved the problem.
