SSH dies with ssh_exchange_identification: Con...

Hello. I am running RedHat 7.2. I recently reloaded to try to fix several problems. Now I find that I get an error whenever I try to SSH to the machine. I have removed xinetd, and replaced it with inetd. SSH is enabled. ALL:ALL is in my hosts.allow file and hosts.deny is empty. The error message I get is ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host. What did I do wrong? Thanks in advanced!

Your new sshd probably honors the /etc/hosts.allow and deny file. So you come in as a denied IP, sshd terminates teh connection.

Hope it helps,

Nope. I don't have a sshd.conf, sshd.config, sshd_
conf, or sshd_config file. Sorry. It worked before the reinstall. I can post my inetd.conf, though, if you want.

PS: I start sshd in my rc.local.

That is odd - I can't start ssh without my config file. Maybe you should try upgrading sshd.
