SSH Authentication Help

Hi All -

I am running RHat 7.3 Linux i386 distro. I have SSHd running on my box with default configuration, but I am experiencing problems SSHing into my box from a windows machine using Putty.

I have generated public and private keys for SSH v2 using command ssh-keygen -d and then have ftped these keys to my windows box. When I use Putty to ssh from windows box, under the SSH -> Auth section I have specified the right location for the "Private Key File" on my windows box. yet when I start the SSH session, it gives me an error saying "Unable to Use Key file c:\pathtothedirectory\nameofkeyfile (OpenSSH SSH2 Private Key)

Does anyone know why this is happening, what am I doing wrong. Please help.
