Question SQUID only TCP_MISS and DIRECT - why?

hello,

I'm slowly getting very frustrated with my squid cache...

I don't really know, what value or setting to toggle to make the squid finally cache the contents retrieved off the net..

just a little sample: (I've opened many of these pages containing these smileys - so why does the cache not retrieve them off the cache??)

1065527180.222 412 192.168.0.11 TCP_MISS/304 261 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que...ilies/jawa.gif - DIRECT/64.179.4.147 image/gif
1065527180.277 413 192.168.0.11 TCP_MISS/304 263 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que...ies/newbie.gif - DIRECT/64.179.4.147 image/gif
1065527180.329 423 192.168.0.11 TCP_MISS/304 261 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que.../images/on.gif - DIRECT/64.179.4.147 image/gif
1065527180.367 409 192.168.0.11 TCP_MISS/304 261 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que...ilies/nono.gif - DIRECT/64.179.4.147 image/gif
1065527180.632 407 192.168.0.11 TCP_MISS/304 261 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que...milies/cry.gif - DIRECT/64.179.4.147 image/gif

any hints?
help is greatly appreciated!

TIA

Check your /etc/squid/squid.conf and make sure the no_cache line doesn't list any parameter in the not cached URLs.

Well here.. forums are having no_cache directive so nothing from forum will get stored in cache. whether it is image or data..
I think you should see some static pages of html.. l
Well i was having same problem and I found that even static pages are getting tcp_miss..
I had opened a static site 1 hr ago and again opening get tcp_miss intead of tcp hit.. The site is static no change there..'
Now can any one tell me why...

I get this too, I haven't got a single TCP_HIT in my access log. However I am a little suspicious that the log is not showing the HITS as there seems to be more misses in the log when I refresh the page than just go back to it (if that makes sense). But I want my log to show the hits or I won't trust it!!!!
