smb protocol

i am trying to use samba on a gentoo computer, i have it installed and it woks fine, but i am trying to browse the network through konqueror and whenever i type smb:/ into the location bar it gives me the error

"Protocol not supported

smb"

i know it works because other computers can see my shares and i can see other computers through xsmbrowser or something, i just cant figure out how to make it work in konqueror or anything else, firefox gives the error

"smb is not a registered protocol"

have you configured the LISa Daemon? If not then go to the control center -> Internet & Network -> Local Network Browsing

you need to compile Konqueror with smb support
