About 18 months ago I converted my Mum to Linux from Windows. I reinstalled her system with OpenSuSE10.2, and dual-booted it with WindowsXP incase she felt lost. Both have Firefox installed. Everyday when my Mum logs on, she opens her browser and vists
The Hunger Site. She clicks each of the tabs across the top, and on each page clicks the "click here to give - it's free" button. Under WindowsXP this process happens extremely quickly, but under OpenSuSE each tab takes ages to load, loading one section at a time, and taking ages reporting "transferring data".
What can be happening here? This is the same system, accessing the net through the same router, with the same IP settings. Why does Linux take so much longer than XP? I have tested this independently with my home system (OpenSuSE11 and WinXP) and the same thing happens.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
