Cool Slackware-Debian LAN problems

Hello everybody.I am a newbie with linux and seeking for help.(BTW sorry for poor english)

Well i have a box with slack and a box with debian and tried to make a local network.

At 1st i have slackware and configured with netconfig. The 1st is the gateway.
At 2cd on i have debian. And configured with netconf.

My main problem is that the boxes don't see each other with ping.So there is no connection.Below are some infos:

Both NICs are recognized but i see some differences at dmesg|grep eth0

1st NIC (hostname.domain amd64.gabriel.gr)
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 at 0xa000, 00:80:48:34:15:98, IRQ 17
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8100B/8139D'
eth0: link down
