Question network problem redhat 8.0 : firewall

Hi guys,

the problem:

Ive got a network with several windows comps and 1 linux server
they are all connected to my switch
the linux server -> eth1 = adsl modem connection (ppp0)
eth0 = connection to switch (lokal network)

to share my internet i did:

I used this file for iptables
w w w.ecst.csuchico.edu/~dranch/LINUX/ipmasq/examples/rc.firewall-2.4

EXTIF="ppp0"
INTIF="eth0"

(then run it -> sh rc.firewall-2.4 ) looks all ok!

I also:

changed the parameter of ip_foward to 1 in /etc/sysctl.conf
then
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

and

i tried to turn off the firewall in the setup menu (lokkit)
but everytime I change it to off and look at it again -> its high again... (wtf?)

I can ping from windows to linux and linux to windows

I can ping the ip of my adsl connection from my windows comps.

but I can't get on the internet with windows.

windows settings :192.168.0.x - 255.255.255.0 gateway=192.168.0.1
linux: 192.168.0.1 (eth1)

please help!! what did I do wrong or forgot?
thx

You may have fogotting to setup Masquerading.

Also, for RedHat, you do not need to use the rc.firewall-2.4 script.

To setup IP Forwarding and Masquerading (Internet Connection Sharing) in RedHat, take a look at these threads.

To debug your network, use the following commands.

To display network device information
Code:
ifconfig
service network status
To display the iptables rules.
Code:
iptables -vL
To display your routing table.
Code:
route -n
