Sharing internet problem
hi all,
I have two computers, my work computer and my families computer. The family computer has a 56k external modem on it and Suse 8.2. I want to be able to use this connection from my work computer. Because I didn't want to be running wires around the house, I purchased a Dlink router (614) and a Dlink 520+ PCI Adapter.
When I made the jump to linux everything went pretty smoothly except for the Dlink 520+. I eventually got that installed using the acx100 drivers and Craigs tutorial. Now my only problem is that I still can't access the internet from my work computer (although at least I can ping and share stuff with the family computer).
I have the firewall (which i believe takes care of masquerading as well) set up on the Suse (family) machine, so I thought I'd be all ready to go. But I can't ping or resolve a url from outside the network. This is getting frustrating because I dual boot with XP and XP can access the internet through the family (suse) machine, so I know it works.
All I had to set on that was the gateway and dns (from my isp). I have tried to put these into resolv.conf on mandrake (work) computer, but to now avail. Any ideas???
