I've got a Samba PDC (on Redhat 9) controlling a network of WinXP Pro (SP1) clients. Everything works fine, except user permissions.
To enable debugging under Visual Studio, users have to be members of 'Debugger Users' and 'VS Developers', instead of just 'Users', as samba makes them. I have searched for a way to handle these on the server side, but have pretty much given up.
Instead, I'm adding users to these groups manually per machine (Local Users & Groups > Groups > Debugger Users > Add > Advanced > Find Now.
Here, I would like to be able to select, under 'MYDOMAIN', the 'Domain Users' group, so that users can be added on the server once, however XP complains that 'Information returned from the object picker for object "Domain Users" was incomplete. The object will not be processed'.
I can add each user manually, and the 'Domain Admins' group adds fine, but I want to be able to set up the machines once, and then add users in a single location, rather than trek around the desks
...
Incidentally, Windows 2000 seems to add the group fine, so this is probably just an XP problem.
Thanks
Robin
