I have set up RH 7.2 as the local network DNS. I have set up exactly by the book. The server does the translation for the names on the network, but none of the other machines will. I have stopped the ipchains to be sure that there is no firewall issue. The service named seems to restart without problem. I have checked all my network configurations and see nothing wrong. What should I check to get the other (win98, etc.) hosts to use the server?
There are several Win based lookup programmes that can interrogate dns servers.
Try one and see what your server is outputting.
