Question Replacing MS Exchange2000 Cluster ...

Hi,

I need some help with this.

Currently, we are running clustered MS Exchange2000 servers . I want to know if there is a possibility to replace this system with a mail system similar to the M$ Exchange2000 feartures running under Redhat Enterprise Advanced Server 3.0?
It is important to build this scenario in a cluster environment!

Any help, notes, and/or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Ashraf

Now one question is if you ONLY want to replace the Mail sistem, or if you also want to keep the groupware functionality (calender sharing... etc...) with outlook clients. If it is so, its going to be hard, there are some alternatives, but in my opinion they might not be mature enough. Try out the kolab server:

Take a quick look at: http://www.kroupware.com/news/pr-20030725.html

I dont know how it performs (if it performs) in a clustered environment. Its supposed to be very scalable, i think i read somewhere that it performs well in a mixed environment with other exchange servers or kolab servers... but I didnt get into the details. It is a little strange to install and configure though, it was really a pain for me but I am more or less a newbie.

If you are looking just for a MTA / IMAP or POP servers... I dont think it will be a problem

two mail systems for linux are qmail and sendmail, there are many more also. These two systems will involve allot of configuration for the administrator, this may prove to be a pain when you or your administrator have been working with the GUI of MS Exchange.
Here are some links.
