Red face RedHat 9 Ethernet configuration

Hi everybody

I m running RedHat 9 and i recently added ethernet card to my system, Linux detected and conigured the card automatically at start up so it works fine, However I want to set up my small LAN and connect to the Internet at the same time through dial-up. It was possible to get dialup and ethernet card working at the same time but in that case I had to configure eth0 device to automatically obtain IP addresses from dial-up interface.
If I tried to set up static IP addresses for eth0 then my system could not resolve any domains on the Internet even if ppp0 interface was still running with unchanged configuration.

Can anybody give me an advice on how to connect to the Intrnet through dial-up and have static IP address for the machine on the local LAN.
