I think the driver came out in May or June. I don't know the site, but you should try the manufactor's. If I remember it correctly you should go to Support, then Download, and find your card and find the Linux module...
OH MY GOD! I'm terribly sorry, I've mistaken your network card for an external modem!
The thing is I have both DFE 530TX+ network card and some DLink modem, and I know that I had lots of trouble with the modem so I thought that is what you're asking. Oh God!
I realized what's happenning only when I downloaded the rtl*.c file and started reading it.
Well, my DFE network card works just fine under Linux, I had no problem with it. I just installed the latest kernel, and it autodetected it, and after that I just had to set up Samba and everything worked fine. From kernel 2.4.8 you have the rtl*.c (the file that you downloaded) already inside, so you don't need to download anything.
You haven't mentioned your kernel version. If you have an old one, then I would suggest you update it. If you need more info then read the Kernel-HOWTO
Oh, and you need to set up the basic network configuration (I think, but maybe it's already set up for you), and I know how to do that in SuSE, but if you have RedHat or other then sorry. Read Net-HOWTO, I think it says how to do it...
Btw. a suggestion: when you ask some hardware-related question ALWAYS point out your distro, your kernel version and the version of the program you're using (if there is such). It makes the job for the replyer much easier.
And always read the documentation before you post. In Net-HOWTO you have just about everything you need. For Samba read SMB-HOWTO etc...
I just think it's easier to spend a couple of hours reading the documentation than to post a question and wait for weeks until someone replies to it. And this way you'll even learn something
