Questions about Gnutella

I just installed Napshare (a gnutella/gnapster clone i suppose)... for some reason it works great and the first 3 files i tried to download actually worked... naturally i am suspicious... gnutella and napshare before never worked that great... i just installed napshare as an rpm as opposed to tarballs i have been using... does that have anything to do with it all?

i am just curious plus i am trying to avoid making the same mistakes in the future... thanks for the help
