Some questions about GTK-GNUTELLA...

Okay, I just installed GTK-Gnutella and everything seems to be working fine. I have two questoins though. in the upper right hand corner, there is a little image that says I am firewalled and I may not be able to see as many search results as I would if I were not firewalled. What can i do to fix that? Also, Do I have to be running a terminal to run GTK Gnutella? Or can I just link an icon to the desktop so that all I have to do is hit the icon?

you need to punch a hole in your firewall at the port gtk-gnutella wants to use...

you can see which port it is in the configs...

Do you have a firewall? If you do you will have to open a port for gnutella. It will work behind a firewall, but works a little better if you open a port. How you do that will depend on the firewall and/or the distro. gtk-gnutella will show you the port or let you select one. Also, sometimes the firewall icon shows for a while even if you are not firewalled and then it turns to the face icon when it gets a connection, so it may just take time...

Yep, I have gtk-gnutella on my desktop as an icon. How you do that depends on the distro, but it's easy in KDE and gnome and such. KDE use the right click to create a new link to app, etc.

Thanx man! I got the icon on the desktop. The app was in /usr/bin/ so I created a desktop link from there. Thanx again!
