what type of printer is it? have you tried configuring it w/out the raw option, i.e. w/the correct driver and ppd file?

it is a canon i560. i printed a test page from windows and it says:

Printer name: canon i560
Driver name: cjpdrv58.drv
Driver version: 4.00
color support: yes
port name: //ED/canon
Data Format: RAW

this was done when i booted into windows and printed.

i have a network set up through a router. no server just a filesharing setup

i've had a look at this

http://www.linuxprinting.org/canon-f...ftware_support

and this

http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCpr...214&pname=i560

and this

http://www.turboprint.de/english.html

looks like there is hope from turboprint, but it's not free. i spent an hour googling this stuff, so i hope you find something there that helps.

i don't think the turbo print drivers are expensive, and personally i wouldn't mind spending a few bucks to turn a paper weight into a printer. it's less expensive than replacing the printer.
