Printing to network printer (windoze) from linux
Has anyone managed to do this?
I've looked at the mini howto on tldp.org but it didn't work for me.
I think that maybe it's to do with the fact that when I'm in linux, I'm not authenticated on the NT domain, but because I'm not an NT admin at work, I don't manage the NT domain or PDC, so I can't make any modifications on it.
Can anyone who's managed to get this working please lend a hand?
Windows itself will let you authenticate as a domain user on a non-domain computer (unless there are specific policies against it) - however, if you have an HP LaserJet w/ DirectJet card or a hardware print server (as most domain environments do) - you should use LPR printing directly to the printer (much easier).

Ahh ok, it's a low-end laserjet printer (HP Laser Jet 1200) which isn't running jetdirect (as far as I know anyway).
This printer is attatched to the file server so this box is also the print server, (running windoze 2000).
Can you be a little more specific how I can use LPR printing directly? It's been a while since I've set up any network printing and I've never tried network printing to a windoze print server before.
