ATDT 138
CONNECTSerial connection established.
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyA0

Connection terminated.

hi,
first check your /etc/rc.config if your modem's defined in there as /dev/ttyA0. then check if /dev/ttyA0 exists. it should have chmod 0660 i guess. if so you might try /dev/ttyS0 as alternative. you might try a different ppp agent like kppp, too.
i dont't know whether this helps but good luck

when I said that it dials then it means modem is there as you can see the log whcih I posted earlier..I have modem with /dev/ttyA0 name..but still getting the same messange..actually something releated to LCP message..

When I run ppp in debug mode It shows me that my client PC that is dialout pc is trying to send LCP parameters but server that is dialin PC is not responding to that LCP request.

# ./start_ppp ttyA0
# ATH
OK
ATH0
OK
ATDT 138
CONNECTSerial connection established.
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyA0
LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Connection terminated.

SIOCDELRT: No such process
SIOCADDRT: No such device
disconnect script failed

And it disconnect after trying 30 times for LCP reply.
I am not able to figure out where is the problem.

Hallo there... you probably have the same problem I encountered but at different level. You must have something missrouted there... Your ppp service (ppp0) is not able to receive a route. According to your Linux distribution, there has to be some scripts runnig for this connection (/etc/ppp/"several files"). All you have to do is to find out how can you allow ppp0 to be routed automaticaly: in /etc/ppp/options file you should have a "defalutroute" inserted and uncommented. In this file is an LCP option setted to end after <n> seconds and that's why you think you are connected (as a matter of fact only the modems are...) but you can't get any services (browsing, mails...)
Try to write route -n after your pppd starts and I believe there is no ppp0 reference. But if you type ifconfig ppp0 the process is on but not routed...
good luck...
