Question pop3 authentication

I am trying to get pop3 server on my redhat7.2 machine. I got imap installed and got it so it starts at boot up. The problem I am having is authenticating from a mail client. I suspect that pam has something to do with it. The mail client will prompt for my user name and password. I type it in, it tries to authenticate, and just gives me the login box again.

Anybody have any ideas
