OSPF Routing Help

I am studying OSPF. I want to achieve OSPF
practically. I configured gated.conf.
I have some doubts Please send replies at the
earliest

1)When i configure one of the router interface as
backbone, i will get routing updates only from the
routers which have backbone in their configuration

2)Will backbone exist in all gated configuration

3)Will router will get updated if the interface
attributes mismatch

4)How should I use Authentication mechanism(simple)?
authtype simple "linux" -->is it right way for
area

5)Do static route written in gated.conf require
no OSPF or they are independent?

6)Give one configuration covering all possible
config including the Network diagrams
Please provide replies to all the queries
individually.
