Question NFS mount problems through VPN

I am having some problems mounting my NFS while I am connected through a VPN Here is a little background
  • Fedora Core 2
  • 2.6 kernel
  • Cisco VPN client version 4.6
  • NFS server running on RH 8.0

my /etc/fstab is set to noauto for the NFS mount point.

satan2:/raid0 /raid0 nfs noauto,defaults,bg 0 0

So when connect through the VPN everything is happy. When I mount the NFS

mount /raid0

everything freezes up completely. Ctrl+Alt+Del doenst work Ctrl+C doenst work it remains this way until I shut it down harshly ( holding in the power button )

This is set up on a lap top and when I take it into the office it and do the same thing minus VPN connection it works perfectly.

Are there any suggestions as to how I can keep this from happening other than not mounting the NFS?

Have you tried the '-o soft' option?

The problem is compounding.

When I SSH into another box on the network side it I can run commands as if I were logged onto that box. But this only lasts for about 15-20 seconds or until I do an 'ls'

Would this be a Fedora problem being that others in my company running RH EL4 dont have this problem?
or
Could it be that the Cisco VPN Client just doesnt work correctly with FC2 ?

if so can someone suggest a good VPN Client that will connect to a Cisco router that works nicely with Fedora?
