nfs monitoring?


is there some way to monitor real time which clients are accessing which files on the server using nfs? i have no clue about the output that nfsstat gives me..all numbers thats it

You can view which filsystems are mounted realtime. I think if you use "mount -v" command that should give you a list of whats mounted. As far as nfsstat is concerned that just gives you output of nfs traffic I think.

well..thats on the client side..what i am talking about is the server side...meaning say i am sharing some partitions(and so i guess i can call my box the "server") and have allowed some clients to mount them..now at a given time, how do i find who has actually mounted which partition and which file if any are accessing at the moment? or say even some log of some sort that tells me that the person accessed such and such a file at such a time...

(the quick reply seems to be somewhat screwed up...keep posting and it keeps saying "you are not logged in" and had to repost 3 times before deciding to switch to full mode to finally post this reply..now looks like even the full reply mode doesnt work where do i go?!?)

There is the program nfswatch (http://nfswatch.sourceforge.net).
