nfs client on knoppix 3.9 - problem mounting nfs drive

greetings from sunny Sydney. I am running Knoppix 3.9 from cd on a box with no harddisk. I want to use a disk mounted on a network server as its workdisk after it has booted.
The network server seems to be making the work disk a available on the lan :-
I can mount it on the server box using :-

mount 192.168.0.1:/data6 /mnt

I can ping 192.168.0.1 from the knoppix box, so the ethernet cable works Ok.
when I issue the nfs mount command on the knoppix box I get
Mount : RPC: Timed out
I get the same error if I try

mount -t nfs 192.168.0.1:/data6 /mnt/data6

I have issued portmap command which I understand is necessay. Anything else ?
thanks
Rod

Hi Rod Butcher ,
Your Nfs session seems to time out. you can use the directive
mount -o timeo "in tenths of seconds" to increase the time the client waits for the server. The default is 7. but i think the problem will be mainly in the server.
