Unhappy Newbie - setting up a shared folder

I have a Linux PC that I would like to share a folder from, so that my Windows based PC's can read/write to that folder. Security is NOT an issue, honesty, its just not. Ease of use is. FYI, this is just a home network.

The linux PC has Mandrake 10 COmmunity edition on it. I went in as Root, and allowed sharing, then went into my home directory, and shared the /tmp folder.

Windows sees the MDKGROUP workgroup, but past that, nothing. I can't browse anything, it just errors out.

Bottom line is, I just want to share a folder. Any folder will do. It needs to be easy to get to from windows. It just needs to work.

Can anyone tell me what key entries in samba.conf I need to setup?

I'll be happy to post mine here, but it is way long...

Any help is greaty appreciated.

What do you get if you just type \\linuxboxip\ in a window on your windows box?
