I connect to the internet through cable. in windows I use dhcp tu provide me the ip and the dns, even if there are always the same ones. in fedora core dhcp doesn't work and I must give to the network manager the static ip, gateway and dns. The problem is that after an hour or maybe more the connection drops in fedora, even if in windows it functions all the time. the solution in linux is to unplug the modem from the power source then plug it again. and works...until de next failure...I don't know what to do, I tried to set the network in linux using dhcp and dns provid automatically by the provider but this doesn't work at all...I'd appreciate any help I can get
well, the network manager tells me to let the dhcp do his job in both windows and linux, but in linux I simply have no usable connection. if I manually input the ip and other stuff, it works for a while at least. and, silly as it may look, ifconfig command is not recognized in terminal. I thought that was very odd...
yes. I know how to work with su. It still doesn't recognize de command. From System... I configured the network manager...I'll continue trying to fix that dhcp problem...
