Anmar: you are working on a linux machine right??

Okay, lets try again:
type in the the following please, and mark the (lack of) spaces!!!

Code:
/sbin/ifconfig
So it's ifconfig and not if config (standsfor InterFaceconfig i believe)
Then post the output here please?

So it seems that the other machine only shows a LO address ?
That would mean that the NIC on that machine is not properly configured.

U know to config that ?

Mmmmm....

Depending on the kind of networkcard in there, you should be able to config it. (if the hardware is seen by linux.

The machine who doesn't have a working network card. Which distro is on it?

We tried to use the network cards in windows before .
They worked very well .
There is no not working network card .

the notebook ( the one I couldn't find eth0 inet address in ) has mandrake 9.1 installed on it, "Dell"

Desktop ( I found eth0 inet address ) has the latest redhat installed ot it "eMachines"

Nothing gone wrong when we were using windows .

Do you think something broke up ?

The "not working" eth0 card, is in a notebook huh?

So, just to make sure: is it a pcmcia card? If so, is your pcmcia-service running ?
