Lightbulb Network Adapter comes up Inactive after reboot of Fedora Release 9 (Sulphur)

Hello,

I am new to Linux and am stumped with this issue we are having with 1 server.
Everything runs normal and network adapter works fine and is checked off to make active at bootup, but whenever this server is rebooted along with all the other Linux servers, the network adapter comes up inactive and I need to connect to the physical box and activate the network adapter to get it online once again.

I have run into this in the past with other Linux servers but they seemed to have resolved themselves and network adapters remain active after reboot, except for this one.

Thanks for any help,

Patrick

Check onboot=yes

Hello

You might want to open the file

"/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0" (this number might differ if you have more than one NIC"

open the file and verify this entry exists and is set to yes

(ONBOOT should be in caps)

ONBOOT=yes

if it doesnt exist or was set to no add or correct it and run
"/sbin/service network restart" this will restart you NIC.. if there are no errors then reboot and see what happens

Try that and let me know..
