Unhappy linux <-> win2000

hello

---

i have this little network, two computers. one running win2000 and another rh 7.0. i can telnet to win2000 box from linux box, but i cant do it other way around. win2000 says connection refused! nmap says
win2000 box:
22/tcp open ssh
23/tcp open telnet

linux box:
22/tcp open ssh
23/tcp open telnet

any comments.
ps: i am a user on both machines, and ping works both directions!

regards, himba

It's the Proxy setting in the Red Hat machine, by default, it won't take external connections.

not necessarily a proxy setting on the linux box.

what do you have in your xinetd.conf file for the telnet ?? is it enabled ?

also, does it give this error before a login prompt or after you try to login ? if after a login, are you trying to login as a regular user or root maybe ?

make sure you are not trying to logon as root, since it is blocked by default
