I Have a windows NT 4 server running Microsoft Proxy server 2.0, and i know that all works fine, i have been using the windows proxy client software to basically re route anything that would go to the modem to the proxy, and i wish to keep this set up as i am the only client using Linux. i have no problems with the network connectivity, my linux box works fine, and i can use the internet through netscape, i just have email and other assorted software i would really like to run without using netscape. i am wondering if there is a way to create a "redirector" for my internet packets on linux, if so how.
My problem is this:
We have a MS Proxy 2.0 on a Win2k box using which all other Windows computers access Internet. Now, I hv installed a couple of Linux machines but I hvn't a clue as to how to access Internet on them using the MS Proxy?
I read ur posting about using a Linux box in a WinNT environ. It is not clear to me how u r able to access Internet on ur Linux box. Can u explain it more clearly to me? It wud a a great favour if u did.
I too am experiencing a problem running my RH7.3 box on a Win2k Lan and authenticating to ms proxy 2.
Everything else seems to work fine - I can access any internal http sites so connectivity is not the problem.
I am using KDE 3 and the browser is Konqueror.
I go into the settings menu and select configure Konqueror and then I select the use proxy check box, specify settings and I put specify the correct proxy server name, and port but I still get the following:
unknown authorization method

I think... all you have to do (for internet browsing) is specify in the browsers settings to use a proxy at the proper IP and port.

a transparent proxy is one that redirects the clients packets to the proxy port from port 80 (where it looks for the website). That would mean that you dont set it to go through a proxy, but you set the defualt gateway as your server.
What abt NTLM authorization? I get error messages. Is there any way to use the browser (konqueror) without having to prvide username & passwd info each time?
