Question laptop/modem????

I have a Tosiba Laptop and I currently have SBC Yahoo DSL on my home computer. My laptop is connected for wireless internet, how do I do it? Do I just buy a router? Will a router work with my DSL? (My DSL has no open ports.) Do I get a phone jack splitter for the one port I do have in the back of my modem? Sorry if this is too many questions, but I'M CONFUSED!! Thank You!!

Welcome to LQ!

You got the wrong forum, this one is for

You should have posted this in the Networking forum. You should ask a moderator to move it for you by clicking on the link in the bottom of the thread box Report this post to a moderator. I'll cover this one for you.

You want wireless, you gotta have a wireless modem or router.
Have you checked with your ISP to see what they offer?

I'd suggest buying a router, and pay attention to the wireless
features. Mine is a Linksys WRT54G ... search for others.

Moved: This thread is more suitable in Linux-Networking and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

You need to look into DSL documentation. No free ports usually means you can't connect it directly..But, the DSL may be also an wireless AP (acccess point). Give us the model if you can't find the info.
