So far, everything was so easy under mdk!

I know it's not a precious bit of information, but, the only thing I miss is networking. I just can not get a desktop with mdk9.0 and a laptop with mdk9.1 connect via eth0 (crossover lan cable).

I don't know what to start with (except the 5Kg book on Linux, which did not help). Please, would anyone guide me? I know it might be annoying to guide a newbie, but...

Of course, I can use CD Rom to exchange the files - k3b is a great application - but its not the best way, isn't it?

1) Configure NICs. If they're detected (I guess they are), assign them IPs. Make them local, for example 192.168.1.1 for one machine and 192.168.1.2 for another.
2) Try to ping one machine from another. Open a terminal on 192.168.1.1 and run
ping 192.168.1.2
If you get a response, it works.
3) Decide which way you'd like to use to share your files. You have many options: NFS, ftp, Samba...When you know which one you'd like to have, please write it.
