kinit and kadmin authentication behavior

Hi All,

I have installed MIT Kerberos 5 v1.4.3 on a Slackware 10.2 OS. After finally getting to the point where I could propogate the master KDC database to the slave KDC I ran into this strange behavior.

kinit
Password for root/admin@MYREALM.COM:
kinit(v5): Password incorrect while getting initial credentials

and with kadmin ...

kadmin
Authenticating as principal root/admin@MYREALM.COM with password.
Password for root/admin@MYREALM.COM:
kadmin: Incorrect password while initializing kadmin interface

but if I disregard the password entry and use the key for authentication (i.e. kinit -k ... or kadmin -k) it works fine.

Any thoughts on this?

Much Gras,

Mike
