The releasing doesn't release the MAC from the IP it's assigned from the ISP. I was wondering it that is due to the modem and the ISP setup.

welll... i can explane it how it works in our country....it's switzerland....
when i put on my modem.... it's gonna built up a connection to our ISP ...... and now...please read accurately:
- the modem receives a routing table from our ISP.... and loads that onto...
I often had the same problem... I connected a computer to our modem.... let's call it "PC 1"..... after I shut this one down, ... I can't get an ip for another machine (for example: "PC 3").... cause my modem still thinks, my mac-address of "PC 1" has still reserved its ip...
So..... sometimes, i had to wait a half a week....*grrrr*
well, that's stupid, i know.... but it just forces us to use masquerading
