Internet only works for a minute... (ubuntu dapper)

I seem to be having a problem where my internet only works for about a minute and then stops. I just upgraded to ubuntu dapper and it started happening. The thing is, if I reset my router, the internet starts working for my computer again, but then stops again after a minute. I know that it works because I am currently on my laptop and online through the router. I have tried using both static ip and DHCP. The router is a Microsoft MN-500.

Here are the results of ifconfig in case it helps.
Code:
ifconfig
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:08:A1:22:95:24
          inet addr:192.168.2.42  Bcast:192.168.2.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          UP BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:133 errors:896 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:14 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:16533 (16.1 KiB)  TX bytes:1086 (1.0 KiB)
          Interrupt:185 Base address:0xec00

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:16436  Metric:1
          RX packets:844 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0

make sure your nic is set to dhcp, and that the router uses PPPoE and not "bridge".
