Hi
I am a newbie in Linux. I use removable hard drive to switch between window ME and Linux Mandrake 7.1. I can access internet through window ME without any problem. However I do not have internet access when I put Linux drive in and boot to Linux OS. I tried to log in as root and use DraConf. I provided ip address. It also ask for http proxy server and ftp proxy server. I do not know what to put. I simply typed "proxy" and it does not work. Cox cable is my high speed internet provider. I use a 2Wire home portal to share the internet connection. My network card is Kingston KNE111TX Etherx adapter. Any how do direction and suggestion is greatly appreciate.
I do not know about draconf. But if you were not using proxy for your win m/c you should not use it for linux also. Ask it to connect directly and if that option is not there try with not providing any proxy.
Also see if your card is working properly. ( /sbin/ifconfig is the easiest command and it should show you an entry for eth0 )

To clear things up with another question, is your ethernet card wireless or is it direct connection to the portal, since most 2Wire portals have the wireless which they are usually made for ?
