Question Intel Corporation 82540EP NIC and "rx_missed_errors" at 140Mbps

I have an Intel Corporation 82540EP Gigabit Ethernet Controller which uses module e1000 version 7.3.21-k8-NAPI. While it is a GigE NIC, I receive "rx_missed_errors"(ethtool -S eth0) already in case of 140Mbps bidirectional UDP traffic. Datagrams are 1470 byte long. Has anyone experienced something similar?

140Mbps may not be a happy speed for it. Does it work on 1000Mbit? Does it think it's on 100Mbit?
