need Driver for "nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600] (rev a2)" graphics card
I have a "nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600] (rev a2)" graphics card and I want to do 3D graphics with Compiz Fusion. Can anyone tell me what driver I need so I can do 3D graphics?
The driver is to be installed after stopping the X Window System. Enter a terminal and, as root, type "init 3" to enter console mode. Log in, become root again, and type "sh Nvidia...run".
Executing "sh Nvidia...run" opens an installer that makes everything simple. There is a useful man nvidia-xconfig.
Good Luck
Better Graphics

but if you use the nvidia.run driver then for every kernel , xorg , and X11 update you WILL NEED TO REINSTALL the .run driver
Also if you use the nvidia.run driver then you will also need to reinstall mesa GL every time you reinstall the .run driver
T'is true, t'is true that the Nvidia driver requires reinstallation when its preconditions change. However, having performed the chore once, repeating the deed is not at all hard. Linux is choice, alternatives, decisions.
And faint heart nere dared partition a disk nor commanded a terminal.
