Hi Mate ,
I'm using switch cisco layer3 3560 to configure VLANs and routing few VLANs for my network and using firewall machines CentOS 5.0 to configure IPTABLES and OPENSWAN .things are going well now .But I'd like to ask you , can I configure VLANs like cisco layer3 to replace my switch cisco ?if Linux can configure VLANs , please show me which's packages can be avaiable ? or show me the documents about VLANs on CentOS
Many Thanks
Thank you for your assistance ,I've just read your article but it's only using CENTOS to configure trunk with switch layer 2 , I mean I want to devide VLAN by CENTOS to replace switch (for example I don't have cisco switch).
Ah, so you want your machine to become the switch. We tried something like that once, but it ended up not working out so well. What you can do is bond virtual interfaces to external ones. So, say you have eth0.3002, you can bond this to say eth2 and it'll act like a bridge. The program to do that is called ifenslave. I haven't used it in some time, however.
