how to run xinetd ?

Hello folks,

My probleme is "how to run xinetd ?"

My distribution is debian. I installed the package with "apt-get install xinetd", but when I do "ps -A | grep xinetd" , I see nothing.

Then I decide to install xinetd with the sources. But the same problem came out : "ps -A | grep xinetd" shows nothing.

I am confused.

Hope you can help me.

Tuan.

Yep I've already tried to start the service "xinetd start" but it didn't work out.

But thanks to your answer I look up the man oh xinetd and I found this option :
-stayalive
Tells xinetd to stay running even if no services are specified

So with "xinetd -stayalive", it works. I See xinetd in my "ps -A" commande

Thanks.

See ya,

Tuan.

bit of a waste of time if there's no services to run....
