i know in the windows series operating system,i CAN setting the networking speed in the duplex.
because i ever using over 200meters general twisted-pair link two computer in a local area networking.first,if i DONT lock networking speed in 10m half duplex or 10m full duplex, the two computers CANT communicate each other.but, once i setting the networking speed for 10m half duplex.it begin to work.

You can use
Code:
ethtool
or
Code:
mii-tool
whichever you have installed.

Read the man pages for them
Code:
man ethtool
