Unhappy RedHat 9.0 freezes with blinking Caps lock and Scroll lock

hi all !, I've just installed RedHat 9.0 on a Celeron 1.2 Ghz with 256 MB Ram, one inbuilt VIA soundcard and one C-media PCI soundcard. The problem is that after running for a while my machine freezes with the following msgs in the first login prompt (Alt+F1):

<0> Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
In interrupt handler not syncing.

...and a whole lot of msgs before this, which goes like :

[<001c85451>] start request [Kernel} 01c.............
ide_do_request [kernel] 0xe3.....
...
...
default_idle
apm_cpu_idle
cpu-idle
stext [kernel] 0x0 (0xc03...)

one more thing..the GUI is very slow, it detects the video card allrite but i can't even play the games that comes with it.(Its inbuilt VIA VGA)
