help on yum in fedora core 2 (2.6.9 kernel)


Actually, iam trying to connect openvpn connection between linux machine and windows machine.for openvpn installation they have given some instuctions.

#wget http://www.fedorafaq.org/samples/yum.conf

in this configuration file ,it is compatible to fedora core 5.is it also compatible to core 2.
up to this command its working.after this

#rpm -Uvh http://fedorafaq.org/yum

is not getting installed and its showing error.

i have yum service in my system.how can i edit the configuration file.is there any resources avialable.how can i use yum service on my machine.

please any body can help me...................

AFAIK, the HTTP support in rpm does not allow you to specify an entire directory. (I think you need to specify a particular package name at the end of the URL.)

Also, before you spend a lot of brain cycles trying to figure this one out, I just want to remind you that FC2 is an old, unsupported release. (Can you stomach an upgrade?)

upgrading to FC2 TO FC6

how can i upgrade to FC2 to FC5 .is it enough to add patches to the current distribution or again i have to install the entire os.is there any resources are available for this up gradation.how can i get the os cds .please anybody can help me .........

I'm hoping someone will be able to enlighten us on this, but I am fairly certain there is no upgrade path from Fedora 2 -> 5 (or 6 for that matter).

Backup user data and config files, and install the new version.
