Fedora Core 2 yum Mirrors?

i know i know >< another dumb question.

i just installing Fedora Core 2 on a machine, and i rember testing it on another before and Yum (and up2date because of it) being really slow (as usual)

i normally use apt-get which i hear doesnt work on core 2, or atleast doest have any mirrors with core 2 updates. i am just wondering if there is any yum mirrors llike for core 1 that are faster that i can add, and comment out the slow, often compleatly stoping mid transfer download locations?

and the second question is about the gnome display manager, should i be installing that? i usually leave it out of the xwindow package, ive installed it before but i think the default fedora login is better (and i dont install gnome anyways) but is it recommended that i use it? because the up2date program seems to almost force it in Core 2, says its alwready installed and a newer version is available (funnily enough i know it isnt installed as it still isnt checked in add/remove programs)

sorry about all the noob questions guys, these are all after tryig to find answers on my own in google.

thanks again guys

-Krause

I'm curious as well. I've just installed Core 2 and I've been reading the up2date threads...I'd also like to use mirrors to update Core 2.

All of the mirrors listed for Fedora should have both testing and development trees, some however rename them to 1.90 for the FC2 test updates. Right now many mirrors are having trouble staying in sync, so you need to be patient with any that you try.

http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors.html

All of these mirrors should work with yum and/or apt, just configure your app to look at the mirror (you put the url into the config, it looks there); there are excellent instructions on configuring these on http://www.fedora.us/ and http://fedoranews.org/.
