I've installed Mandrake 9.1, and remade the kernel to suite the drivers for my USB modem. Everything went beautifully except for one thing... It tells me when I try to connect using KPPP "unable to open modem".
The modem is located at /dev/modem or /dev/ttyUSB0.
What should I do? Please, really I need help with this. Thanx.
Is there something I'm overseeing?
I tried connecting through ROOT too but no go.
step 1......remove your modem driver
step2..... get a binary package for your modem and your kernel type
step3.... run as a root user #hsfconfig
step4.... follow the instructions.....till it writes modem module installation successful......it is very important to note down your modem port no. and the device type...... in your case i guesss it should give....dev/tty/USB0......
step5.....add a modem onto your network devices....initially it will not detect....but continue...and add the ISP provider tele no. and various other details....do not forget to type in the dev/tty/USB0....as and when asked.....
step6.....after dong this activate your device......it will connect you...take my word......
step7.....tell me did it work!!!1
