Unhappy Hasbani Web Server Error

Hi

I have a linux box running Red Hat 7.3 with the latest stable kernal, Apache 2.0.47 and qmail. every now and then when I go to a page hosted on my server it has an error:

Hasbani Web Server Error Report:

Server Error: 403 Forbidden

Access denied

/doc/index.htm

And then it usually fixes itself after about 30 minutes, I have no idea what is causing the problem, I have formatted it, changed tp iptables as the firewall upgraded the apache versions, changed to a known working network card. I'm out of ideas of what to try.

Any ideas out there?

Make sure every file that needs tobe displayed by a browser is readable to everyone. This is a permission problem, and no config error.

run "chmod a+r /path/to/web/documents -R". this will allow every user to reaad every file. Dont forget, that scripts need executable permissions too.

Hi

I did that and it still does the same thing, it works, then it stops working for a little bet then starts working again.

If I try to open a known file while it's not working I get the following message:

Hasbani Web Server Error Report:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Server Error: 501 Not Implemented

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No RPM for this combination of URL and method

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

/uptime_index.html

The apache setup seems fine and does not complain when I start it up.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

I found this on a Website (www.checkupdown.com)

Resolving 501 errors - general

This error should be very rare in any Web browser. It is more likely if the client is not a Web browser - particularly if the Web server is old. In either case if the client has specified a valid request type, then the Web server is either responding incorrectly or simply needs to be upgraded.

Are you sure apache supports HTTP1.1? Or is that a script that generates the error?

if you have a recent (stable) apache with http1.0 and http1.1 support and it is a common html file that causes problems, then.... well yes... cant tell ya more then.
