Unhappy MNF2 : unable to connect to Web Interface MandrakeSecurity + X server install error

I've just did a fresh install of MNF2 beta 2 on an IBM PC 300PL and I can't get an X server configuration to work. The PC has an trio3d card on mainboard with 4 mb video ram.

Beside that, I can't configure the OS using the web browser and logging to the designed port, i.e. in my case 192.168.1.1:8443.

In syslog, I found messages saying that shorewall rejected the packet from my PC when I try to connect. After shutting down the firewall, no more report from shorewall (ya right, normal) but not much luck getting connected.

It seem like something went wrong while installing. First, how can I check the md5 checksum of the download image.

Any advice would be appreciate! Need to get this thing working before weekend.

Found an MD5 checksum tools for Windows

Well, I found an MD5 checksum tools, Digest-it, and verified that my iso file is ok.

Now, I'm trying to re-install MNF2 from scratch... again.

Ok!

It turn out that the installation system does not start all the necessary services to do the remote web administration, even if it is the default way to manage this server... oh well!

So you need to manually choose the services to start at installation. If your like me and quiet new at this you will have to guess which service is needed. I figured out that web server daemons would be useful. I chose to start the two available. I don't want to enable all service since I would like to keep this box secure... as much as possible.

Now I got the web page to log into the system but I am ain't done yet.

When I try to login with the admin user and the correct password I get the following message

No session found : Cookies not found

in the browser windows.

Anyone can help me? Please....

Still no X server but some progress are made....

After searching support forum, it turn out that the cookies message is related to the time setting of the linux box and my PC.

At installation time, even if I specified that I was living in Montreal, Canada it decided to use the Central Euro-peen Time zone. On my PC it is set to Eastern Time zone. So all I had to do was to change my clock to match the Linux box than log in it and change the time zone to the correct one. Go back to my PC and return to my PC and set the time and zone back to initial setup.

Still not able to have a X server on the box and can't get an access to the Internet.

Any idea!
