Unhappy ftp: connect: Connection refused

Hi there

I have me Mac and PC connected together, running OS X and Mandrake 8.1 respectively.

While I can connect from either to the other using telnet I cannot using ftp.

I CAN connect from the PC to the Mac via ftp, but NOT from the Mac to the PC, suggesting the PC is not set to allow ftp connections may be.

What do I need to check on my PC?

Thanks!

Check that you have a ftp daemon running. su to root and do:

urpmi proftpd && service proftpd restart

This will then run the ftp server for you and voila !

urpmi is the greatest ever tool. forget using the apt port use urpmi !! www.urpmi.org has a load of how-to's etc. http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php is a web page that helps you add sources to urpmi.
