Unhappy Email not working

Hi all, I'm experiencing some odd behaviour with my network I hope I can get answers to. I use Ubuntu 5.04, iburst wireless with an access bridge kyocera modem set up via ethernet. Internet works just fine, though whenever I try to send an email (very short text messages get through) it times out and the message is not sent, irrespective of which email client I use.

Other quirky aspects: Seems that links related to sensitive online account settings also time out. For example, clicking on inbox link in yahoo times out, as do all my account setting links on my isp website. Also, I can' submit posts like this (had to log onto windows to post)! I'd appreciate any help I can get with this, cheers.

I have no idea about your setup but to help someone who does edit your reply and add;
route -n and cat /etc/resolv.conf and what is your wireless card? does anything show up with;
iwconfig

Check your mail server settings. Are you running an SMTP server or are you using your ISP's server? As for the sensative material, make sure your https port is open.

iwconfig reports no wireless extensions at all, which doesn't surprise me as I don't have a wireless card: the iburst network is run through a modem, a fairly new thing.

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
210.80.1.90 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 ppp0
0.0.0.0 210.80.1.90 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ppp0

nameserver 210.80.58.34
nameserver 210.80.58.42

I'm running an SMTP server.

Many ISPs block port 25. Check if yours is blocked. Also, many relays do not allow mail from a dynamic host. Which SMTP server are you running? You may have to relay through your ISP.
